About Jhalawar

The princely state of the Jhalas, Jhalawar was created in 1838 A.D., after being separated from Kota by the British. Remarkable contributions from various rulers including Zalim Singh I made it a culturally rich state. Lying in theJalawar south-eastern region of Rajasthan at the edge of the Malwa plateau, Jhalawar has rocky but water-laden verdant landscape, unlike much of Rajasthan. With some exquisite pre-historic cave paintings, massive forts, thickly wooded forests and exotic wildlife variety. Jhalawar boasts of rich historic as well as natural wealth. One can spot countless species of birds as one drives past the lush countryside. Red poppy fields and orange laden orchards make the countryside all the more fascinating and colourful during winters. The area around Bhawani Mandi is known for contributing a major share to the production of citrus in the country.

The average temperature in the winter season remains somewhere between 25.0° C (max) to 9.5° C (min). The climatic conditions of Jhalawar, Rajasthan in monsoons is quite unlike most other cities. The city receives the highest rainfall in Rajasthan, averaging around 60-95 cm. During monsoons, cool and light wind blows, keeping heat and humidity at bay. The best time to visit Jhalawar is during the months of September to March.

By Bus: Jhalawar is well connected to Bundi, Kota and Jaipur by road. The National Highway 12 passes through Jhalawar district.

JalawarBy Train: The nearest Railhead from Jhalawar is Ramganj Mandi; located at a distance of about 25 Km. the Ramganj Mandi Railway Station is on Delhi-Mumbai line.

Festivals

Chandrabhaga Fair: is celebrated every year in Jhalrapatan, It is six kilometer far from jalawar. Chandrabhaga is the holy river runs here. This Chandrabhaga fair and festival held each year in month of kartik (October - November). On the full moon night of kartik purnima thousands of devotees takes holy dip in the river of Chandrabhaga.

The Chandrabhaga fair held very big amusement items, home goods and other things are sold in a big scale. There Livestock like Cows, horses, buffaloes, camels and bullocks are brought distant side for trade. Many traders comes from madhya pradesh and Maharashtra to sale and purchase cattle. During this fair people organised cultural programme, music, folk dance and other activities.
