The Palace on wheels is rated as one of the top ten luxury train journeys in the world. Palace on Wheels offers you a heart-rending trip to the splendid forts and palaces of Rajasthan in just seven days. Also discover the royal history of Taj Mahal in Agra. The journey to the hinterland of the desert starts every Wednesday evening at 1800 hrs from Delhi and ends on the following Wednesday early in the morning at 0730 hrs.

Palace on Wheels: A completely self-sufficient train – like the royalty on board. Fully air-conditioned the train comprises of 14 deluxe saloons, equipped with class amenities to enhance the pleasure of traveling. Each saloon is a combination of 4 twin-bedded chambers with channel music, intercom, attached toilets, running hot & cold water, shower and wall-to-wall carpeting.

The lounge car recaptures the royal style, pomp & pageantry, the quality of the era gone by. The two dining cars – the Maharaja and the Maharani have a traditional Rajasthani ambience – serving continental, Indian and Rajasthani cuisine.

The coaches are named after the erstwhile princely states: Alwar, Bharatpur, Bikaner, Bundi, Dhaulpur, Dungarpur, Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Jhalawar, Jodhpur, Kishangarh, Kota, Sirohi, and Udaipur.

Each saloon has personal attendants who are at your call whenever you need anything.

The 8 days long journey of “Palace on Wheels” covers Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Sawai-Madhopur, Udaipur, Bharatpur & Agra. Each place has in store something very special and interesting activity like elephant ride at Jaipur, camel ride and cultural programmes at Jaisalmer, lunch at Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, jungle safari at Ranthambhore National Park, lunch at the magical Lake Palace in Udaipur, trip to the world famous Keoladeo Ghana Bird Sanctuary at Bharatpur and sightseeing of the most beautiful monument ever built for love – the Taj Mahal in Agra.

  • Half fare for children between 5 and 12 years of age (Age proof of children is to be furnished, which is required at the time of issuance of tickets)

The Tariff includes:
Tariff is inclusive of travel/ catering/ conducted sightseeing/ entrance fee at monuments/ parks/ palaces/ cultural programs/ camel ride at Jaisalmer/ boat ride at Udaipur/ rickshaw ride at Bharatpur.

The Tariff does not include:
Drinks, tips, laundry, telephone calls, video camera fees, Business Car Facilities, liquor and other items of personal nature.

Booking Policy
In case of FITs:
• 50% of ticket value at the time of confirming the booking.
• Remaining 50% of ticket value 45 days prior to departure.

In case of Group:
• 30% of ticket value at the time of confirming the booking.
• Remaining 70% of ticket value 45 days prior to departure.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellation must be advised by Fax/E-mail/Letter to The Luxury Trains. On cancellation, refund will be made. Certain amount of the ticket value will be deducted as follows.

In case of Individual Tourist (01 to 10 Persons)
• 5% of ticket value 60 days prior to departure.
• 20% of ticket value 30-59 days prior to departure.
• 100% of ticket value between less than 30 days prior to departure.palace on wheels inside

In case of Tourist Group (10 or more persons)
• 10% of ticket value 60 days prior to departure.
• 100% of ticket value between 0 to 59 days prior to departure.


The tour program of Palace on Wheels goes as under:

Day 01: Wednesday: Palace on Wheels:

  • Report at 1600 hours at Delhi Cant railway station to board the Palace on Wheels.

Day 02: Thursday: Palace on Wheels:

Arrive at Jaipur. An air-conditioned coach will take you to Hawa Mahal or the Palace of Winds. This will be followed by a visit to Amber Fort, where rides on caparisoned elephants add to the ambience. Shop for Jaipur’s famous jewellery, handicrafts, carpets, blue pottery and textiles from the Rajasthan Government Emporium. After lunch at a Palace hotel, visit the City Palace and Jantar Mantar. Later transfer back to Palace on Wheels.

  • The Palace on Wheels leaves for Jaisalmer at night.

Day 03: Friday: Palace on Wheels:

  • Arrive at Jaisalmer by Palace on Wheels.
  • Move out for the sightseeing of Golden Fort, Nathmalji-Ki-Haveli, Patwon-Ki-Haveli and Salim Singh Ki Haveli.
  • After lunch on board, go for an exciting camel ride on the sand dunes of Sam.
  • Enjoy the dinner and the cultural programmes at Jaisalmer.
  • The Palace on Wheels leaves for Jodhpur at night.

Day 04: Saturday: Palace on Wheels:

  • Arrive at Jodhpur by Palace on Wheels.
  • Visit the majestic Mehrangarh fort and Jaswant Thada.
  • While in Jodhpur shop for exquisite handcrafted articles including the famous breeches, metal curio, silverware paintings and dye fabrics.Palace on Wheels saloon
  • After lunch at Umaid Bhawan Palace, return to the Palace on Wheels.
  • The Palace on Wheels leaves for Sawai Madhopur.

Day 05: Sunday: Palace on Wheels:

  • Arrive at Ranthambhore by Palace on Wheels.
  • After breakfast trip to the Ranthambhore National Park.
  • Upon return to the Palace on Wheels you leave for Chittaurgarh, where one gets an opportunity to visit the Fort, land of legends, valour and chivalry.
  • Lunch and dinner are served on board.
  • The Palace on Wheels leaves for Udaipur.

Day 06: Monday: Palace on Wheels:

  • Arrive at Udaipur by Palace on Wheels.
  • After lunch at the Lake Palace hotel, visit the City Palace and other attractions.
  • After evening tea, the luxury coach takes you back to the Palace-on-Wheels.
  • The Palace on Wheels leaves for Bharatpur.

Day 07: Tuesday: Palace on Wheels:

  • Early in the morning arrive at Bharatpur by Palace on Wheels.
  • Pay a visit to the world famous Keoladeo Ghana National Park, a heaven for bird lovers.
  • After breakfast arrive at Fatehpur Sikri – the forbidden capital of Akbar.
  • After lunch move on from the Red Fort and arrive at the Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders of the World.
  • Dinner on board at Palace on Wheels.
  • The Palace on Wheels leaves for Delhi Cantt.

Day 08: Wednesday: Palace on Wheels:

  • Arrive at Delhi Cantt at 0730 HRS by Palace on Wheels.
  • You will be received at the train station and transferred to your hotel.
